IN LOVING MEMORY OF DOROTHY "DOTTIE" LEONARD MILLER, FOUNDER AND CEO OF DAYWIND MUSIC GROUP AND NEW DAY CHRISTIAN DISTRIBUTORS

IN LOVING MEMORY OF DOROTHY "DOTTIE" LEONARD MILLER, FOUNDER AND CEO OF DAYWIND MUSIC GROUP AND NEW DAY CHRISTIAN DISTRIBUTORS

NASHVILLE, TN (Oct 11, 2024) -- Dorothy “Dottie” Leonard Miller, born August 10, 1945, passed away on October 11, 2024, at the age of 79. She was an incredibly generous and gracious woman who impacted countless lives with the Gospel through her entrepreneurial pursuits in Christian music and distribution.

Guided by the Holy Spirit and giving glory to God for all she achieved, she used her communication skills and unwavering determination to build several businesses whose products and services helped spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world,  always surrounding herself with talented people to help accomplish her goals.

From humble beginnings in Wilmington, Delaware, the eldest child of William and Dorothy Golt discovered her true calling later in life. As a single mother raising two children in Hendersonville, Tennessee, Dottie learned about business through her clerical work at an accounting firm and a law firm, gained sales experience selling Jhirmack hair products throughout Nashville, and honed her communication skills working for the Democratic Party of Nashville on successful campaigns for Senator Jim Sasser, President Jimmy Carter, and others. Throughout this time, she worked a second job in ER admissions at Hendersonville Hospital to make ends meet. With no prior experience in music, she took a receptionist position at Calvary Records, building it into positions in radio promotions and sales to Christian bookstores.

She followed producer Ronnie Drake to Windchime Records to continue her sales efforts before starting her own company in her garage in 1981 with a small amount of funding from her father, William Golt, her brother, Bill Golt, and family friend, Ray Lorrig. New Day Christian Distributors focused initially on sales of sheet music and albums by independent artists like Mike Adkins and Jimmy Swaggart and eventually became a one-stop distributor for major labels like Word/Curb, Capitol Christian, Provident, Gotee, Centricity, Integrity, Fair Trade, as well as offering many other Christ-centered products to Christian bookstores from offices on Shivel Drive in Hendersonville, Tennessee. Needing products of her own, she reunited with Ronnie Drake to start DayWind Soundtracks and Daywind Records, providing resources to church singers and bringing the music of great artists like Opryland’s Gospel Quartet, the Cumberland Boys, the Steeles, the New Hinsons, Greater Vision, the Crabb Family, Gold City, Karen Peck and New River, Brian Free and Assurance, Triumphant Quartet, Down East Boys, the Perrys, the Hoppers, Tribute Quartet, the Guardians, Jonathan Wilburn, the Steeles, Joseph Habedank, Scotty Inman, the Blackwood Brothers, the Nelons, Southbound, Lefevre Quartet, The Sound, High Road, Michael English, Truesong, Legacy Five, and more to the world..

Dottie later added Daywind Music Publishing, now the predominant music publisher in Southern Gospel and Bluegrass music genres with renowned songwriters like Lee Black, Jason Cox, Sue C. Smith, Bill Whyte, Jonathan Smith, and more, two recording studios, and a cd manufacturing facility. Lately, her business expansions include Daywind Worship (choral products), Spiritus Distribution (Catholic products), Daywind Music Foundation (Tree Radio), a 24/7 broadcaster of Southern Gospel music, and  Billy Blue and Billy Jam Records whose artists include Appalachian Road Show, Authentic Unlimited, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, Alex Miler, Darin and Brooke Aldridge, Tennessee Bluegrass Band, Carson Peters and Iron Mountain, Kristy Cox and Grasstime, Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers, Bob Minner, Dave Adkins, Alan Bibey and Grasstowne, Caroline Owens, Marty Raybon, and more.

Dottie’s impressive career received recognition in the form of Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Gospel Music Association, BMI, the Southern Gospel Music Guild, the Singing News Magazine, and Absolutely Gospel Music. She has been inducted into the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame. Her artists and songwriters have received countless Dove Awards, Singing News Fan Awards, BMI Christian Music Awards, Grammy® nominations and one Grammy® Award (Jason Crabb), and over 125 #1 songs.

One of the most accomplished female music business executives in history, Dottie would quickly point to those who used their talents to help her along the way, including Ronnie Drake, Sylvia Mays, Wayne Haun, Marty Funderburk, Rick Shelton, Norman Holland, Brenda Wilcox, Lisa West, Dusty Wells, Vince Wehby, Janice Hoback, Theresa Richards, and many more.

Dottie’s greatest joy in life has been her family. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Leonard Sovine and grandchildren, Taylor McKellar and Kennedy Sovine; her son, Ed Leonard, his wife Kathleen, and their children Eddie Leonard, Mary Leonard, Evan Leonard, Aidan Leonard (Caroline Leonard), Rachael Zuckett (Joey Zuckett), Caroline Leonard, Ian Leonard, Liam Leonard, and Emily Leonard; her great-grandchildren Leo Zuckett and Eloise Joyce; her sister, Cynthia Paranczak; and Jere Miller. Dottie was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Golt, and her parents, William and Dorothy Golt.

Dottie became an avid bridge player after moving to Hendersonville, Tennessee, from Wilmington, Delaware, in 1972. She loved spending time in Florida where she would read and listen to the ocean and at her cabin in Lafayette, Tennessee, where she would enjoy her alpacas, donkeys, goats, and chickens. She was blessed to travel throughout the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean, but mostly enjoyed time spent with family, her co-workers, friends, and artists. She will be remembered by all as a warm, loving, generous woman with a flair for fashion and who could light up every room she was in with her engaging personality.

A celebration of Dottie’s life will be held at a later date in lieu of a funeral.

DARIN AND BROOKE ALDRIDGE’S “A MILLION MEMORIES (A SONG FOR BYRON)” MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERES TODAY ON BLUEGRASS SITUATION

NASHVILLE, TN. (Oct. 4, 2024) –  Award-winning and chart-topping duo Darin & Brooke Aldridge are excited to unveil the single and official music video for, “A Million Memories (A Song for Byron)” written by and featuring Vince Gill. The video, shot on location at The World Famous Station Inn and debuted on Bluegrass Situation,  is a heartfelt tribute to the late Byron Berline, a beloved musician, mentor, and friend of Gill. Through their dynamic vocals, musicianship, and passionate storytelling, Darin & Brooke honor Berline’s legacy, capturing the essence of the profound influence Byron had on Vince and the music industry. The track was initially released on Darin & Brooke’s latest album, Talk of the Town (Billy Blue Records), which has soared to the top of multiple bluegrass charts, including Billboard, solidifying the duo’s place as a leading force in the genre.

The new video showcases the duo’s ability to evoke deep emotions through both their music and visuals. As No Depression perfectly noted in a recent album review, “Darin and Brooke Aldridge know just how to deliver a song to capture a full range of emotions.” The “A Million Memories (A Song for Byron)” video exemplifies this, pairing soul-stirring lyrics with imagery that stirs nostalgia as it reflects on cherished memories from the past.

Vince Gill expressed his gratitude for Darin & Brooke’s rendition of "A Million Memories (A Song for Byron)," saying, "I'm grateful to Darin and Brooke for recording this song I wrote about the world-class fiddle player and my lifelong friend, Byron Berline.  It's a song I wrote in tribute to our friendship back when I was first getting started playing as a teenage musician.  Darin and Brooke have become great friends of mine, and I'm honored that they recorded this song in tribute to Byron."

Darin & Brooke celebrate the release of the music video by stating, “It is one of our greatest joys to invest time in and encourage those who come behind us. Mentoring is one way to pay forward the gifts given to us by our own heroes and mentors and bring out the best in younger people in the same ways someone did for us. “A Million Memories (A Song for Byron),” dedicated to one of Vince Gill's closest mentors and dearest friends, Byron Berline, is extra-special to us, both for the meaning behind the song and for honor of singing  it with our special mentor and friend, Vince Hill. We will always treasure this opportunity to make “A Million Memories (A Song for Byron).”

The single is now available for all radio, and the music video is now available for viewing on YouTube following its debut on Bluegrass Situation. Fans can also catch Darin & Brooke Aldridge on their upcoming show dates, where they will be performing songs from their latest album, Talk of The Town, along with other fan favorites.

THE NELONS’ LEGACY LIVES ON WITH THE RELEASE OF THEIR ALBUM: LOVING YOU

THE NELONS’ LEGACY LIVES ON WITH THE RELEASE OF THEIR ALBUM: LOVING YOU

NASHVILLE, TN (Aug 30, 2024) - The highly anticipated project, Loving You, which the Nelons have declared as their best work yet, releases today. The release of the project was uncertain following the tragic passing of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber, son-in law Nathan Kistler, their assistant Melodi Hodges, and the pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa in Wyoming while en route to perform on the Gaither Family Cruise earlier this summer. However, after much consideration, surviving member Autumn Nelon Streetman, the youngest member of The Nelons’, felt it appropriate to honor the family’s legacy by releasing the project on its original release date. Loving You, features the award winning and Hall of Fame group’s unmatched musical talent and unbounding faith.  Listen HERE.

The project carries an added layer of significance with each song on Loving You serving as a tribute to their life mission of spreading the gospel. Tracks such as, “Hands of an Unseen God,” “We’ve Always Had A Song” and “Moses” reflect the group's unique ability to minister faith in the midst of pain while rejoicing in the power of divine intervention. Additionally songs, such as the title track, “Loving You” and “That’s What Love Is” offers a simple yet needed reminder that love never fails. The ten-track album, an unapologetic celebration of The Nelons musical integrity and unwavering commitment to their faith, brings together a collection of timeless songs that will continue to inspire for generations to come.

“I had no idea how big an impact this album would have on my life, especially what I’m walking through,” says Autumn Nelon Streetman. “There is a song on this album called, “Hand of an Unseen God,” and the lyrics say, ‘In my weeping and rejoicing, When my world is good or when it falls apart, I’m held by the hand of an unseen God’ and I had no idea I would be walking through those lyrics right now.”

Ed Leonard, president of Daywind Records stated, “Kelly, Amber, and Jason were immensely proud of this recording produced by Jason, Gordon Mote, Wayne Haun, and Bill Gaither, and featuring their friends Joseph Habedank, N.T. Martin, and the Gaither Vocal Band. Please let it minister to you as it has to us as we face the loss of these amazingly talented people who lived what they sang about every day.”

Dusty Wells, director of artist & label relations at Daywind continued by saying, “Loving You is more than just a music project; it’s a testament to The Nelon's' enduring legacy and anointed artistry. From the moment we began working on this album at Daywind Records, I knew it was something special. Jason, Kelly, Amber, Autumn and our team looked for and listened to countless songs before narrowing it down to songs that we felt would minister in a very special way. This project captures the heart and soul of who The Nelons are, not just as artists, but as people who have spent their lives pouring love into their music and their audience. Who knew that this project would be the last recording that they would bring to us. The project is a musical tapestry of hope, strength, peace and love and I know without a shadow of a doubt, it will help countless others on their own journey. Yes, we will certainly miss Jason, Kelly, and Amber, but the music will live on...after all, they will always have a song.  This is undoubtedly one of their best works yet, and its impact will resonate for generations, leaving an indelible mark on their legacy.”

The single is now available HERE.

"I am so thrilled that we had the opportunity to record this song, " stated Jonathan Bucker of Chosen Road. “‘I Wish I Had One More,' written by Jimmy Yeary and Terry Herd, captivated me the moment I heard it. It's a song that stops you in your tracks and makes you reflect on the little moments in life that truly matter but are so easy to take for granted. The song tells the poignant story of a son who wishes for just one more day, or even one more moment, with his dad. However, it not only brought back memories of moments spent with my dad but also memories of cherished times with grandparents and other loved ones who are no longer with us.”

He continued by stating, “In today's fast-paced society, a reminder to slow down and savor life is essential. There will come a time for all of us when we can't pick up the phone and call a friend or loved one because they are gone. We only get one chance at life, and this song reminds me of how important it is to make the most of it with those who mean the most to us. Sometimes music has a way of saying things that we just can't get out otherwise, and this song definitely did that for me. I hope it does the same for everyone who hears it."

“Songs that move you. Songs that touch you. That’s what Chosen Road is all about, and “I Wish I Had One More” is gonna hit you right in the heart. I lost my Dad many years ago, and the first time I heard their recording of this song, it really hit me hard.  It’s music with meaning. Do yourself a favor - turn it up and listen closely,” exclaims Jerry Salley, A&R/creative director of Thoroughbred Records.

Catch Chosen Road on tour this fall before their highly anticipated, annual sold-out Appalachian Christmas Tour! This season, they’ll be bringing their unique blend of bluegrass and gospel to incredible events like Silver Dollar City, the Pennsylvania Gospel Music Festival, the Nothin’ Fancy Bluegrass Festival, and the Kentucky Wool Festival. For more information, visit chosenroadmusic.com.

JOSEPH HABEDANK UNVEILS HIS MUSICAL MEMOIR: autobiography OUT TODAY, APRIL 19TH

AWARD-WINNING CHRISTIAN ARTIST DIGS DEEP IN EACH AND EVERY TRACK

NASHVILLE, TENN. (April 19th, 2024) –  Joseph Habedank, singer-songwriter, two-time GRAMMY® nominee, three-time GMA Dove Award winner, and six-time fan-voted Soloist of the Year, is releasing his musical memoir, autobiography. Taking listeners on a soulful journey, autobiography offers a raw and honest portrayal of pain, struggles, and addiction countered with forgiveness, redemption, and the power of the cross. Listen Here.

autobiography, a 12-track album, features a collection of emotionally charged tracks such as the previously released, critically-praised single, “the basement,” that explores Joseph’s 10 years of sobriety and his transformation from pain into purpose and darkness into light. Highlight tracks “tell the devil,” “going with Jesus” (featuring award-winning producer and pianist Bernie Herms), and “Jesus walked in” (featuring NBC’s The Voice-winner Chris Blue) evidence Joseph’s tremendous artistic and songwriting growth over the years, with each song offering a glimpse into the triumphs and trials that have shaped his life, recovery, and faith.

“This album is the story of my life,” Joseph stated, “but it’s also the story of all Jesus has done in my life. In writing this record, I found myself going back to some of my earliest memories and seeing His hand in the heartbreak, His mercy in the midnight, and the joy that can only be experienced in Him. Because of that, there was no better way to open the record but with "worthy," and to begin by giving honor and overwhelming gratitude for who Jesus is in my autobiography.”

“When Joseph talked to us about this project, I have to admit I was a little uncertain, not for any certain reason, I was just questioning how he would tell his story in song,” states Dusty Wells, A&R director for Daywind Records. “After several months of listening to the sharing of his heart and the songs that Joseph has recorded, I am so moved, touched, and challenged by this project, and I cannot wait for people to hear the "autobiography" of Joseph Habedank. This project is truly a captivating journey through raw emotion and his own personal reflection and growth, inviting his listeners to join in on the musical intimate storytelling of his journey and life in his songs. “After months of writing, recording, and planning, I’m excited to finally share this album with everyone. These 11 songs were chosen to challenge Christians and ultimately help lead someone to Christ. The songs are filled with the simple truths that salvation is available to anyone who calls on the name of the Lord and that His grace is amazing and sufficient when we fail.  I really pray this album will not only please the ear but penetrate the heart,” shares Inman.

“Our team here at Daywind Records are so excited for everyone to hear the much-anticipated NEW Scotty Inman project, entitled MY GOD! Of course, the first single off of the project is the song "My God", and it is quickly climbing the national radio charts,” states Dusty Wells, Director of A&R for Daywind Records. “It declares all that God can and will do for us, a proclamation of His greatness and His faithfulness to all.  Scotty has written many chart-topping songs the last few years for his long-time group, Triumphant, as well as many other artists, so it was no surprise to us that Scotty would bring incredible songs to the table for this project. Many of the songs were co-written with other top songwriters in our industry. This project is the sharing of Scotty's heart and reflective of the journey of his love for Jesus, his faith, and his walk. I cannot wait for people to listen to this new project. SARAH DAVISON RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS CURTAIN CALL AWARD FROM BELMONT UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF MUSIC

NASHVILLE, TENN. (February 5, 2024) – Sarah Davison was honored with the esteemed Curtain Call Award from Belmont University on Wednesday, January 31st, recognizing her unwavering commitment to artistic excellence. The Curtain Call Award, presented in recognition of great achievement in the field of commercial music, has honored a Belmont University School of Music alum each spring since 1995. Sarah is only the second female to receive this honor.

Davison’s selection for this honor is a testament to her remarkable talent and significant contributions to the world of commercial music. A gifted pianist and vocalist, Davison is a piano performance graduate of Belmont University’s School of Music. She formed her highly successful all-female band, High Road, in 2011, garnering a GRAMMY® nomination for High Road’s work on the album, Gonna Sing, Gonna Shout. The band has received nominations in the Singing News Fan Awards (New Artist of the Year and Band of the Year) and the GMA Dove Awards (Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year). When not on tour with High Road, Davison has toured as a musician with iconic Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones on his final tour of Canada and is a frequent performer on the Grand Ole Opry with ACM Award-winner and Opry member, Mark Wills, Opry member, The Isaacs, and Emily Ann Roberts. She is set to join Roberts on Blake Shelton’s 2024 Back To Honky Tonk Tour this spring.

"I feel beyond honored and grateful for being this year's Curtain Call Award recipient from the Belmont University School of Music, " says Davison. “I am only the 2nd female instrumentalist to ever receive this honor in the award’s history- wow! I strive to be a good musician and songwriter, not for awards or accolades, but to create songs that make a difference in the lives of the listener. I give all glory to God for my talent and any success I have achieved. Thank you to Belmont University for this amazing honor that I will forever cherish.”

Dusty Wells, Director of Artist & Label relations at Daywind Records and New Day Distribution, celebrated the award by stating, “We are absolutely thrilled for our own Sarah Davison to be awarded the 2024 Curtain Call Award from Belmont University School of Music. What a tremendous honor, one that is well-deserved for such a talent. Music is such a powerful gift, and as an artist, musician, songwriter and performer, Sarah is the perfect recipient for this award. We are honored to walk alongside her and her band High Road by helping promote their music to people who need to hear the message of Jesus and the hope He is for all of us.”

About High Road

Ask Sarah Davison what her favorite Bible verse is, and she’ll immediately quote Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” It’s a scripture that has accompanied the acclaimed singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist through life’s highs and lows, and one she hand-copied—in a flowery cursive script—from her grandmother’s Bible. “That verse has been with me from my Iowa hometown of 150 people to Nashville, going after what I feel called to do, trusting that He’s leading me down the right road,” she reflects.

It’s not only a scripture that beautifully encapsulates Sarah’s own journey, but the ordained path of her Grammy®-nominated band that she formed in 2011, High Road, as well. A gifted pianist, vocalist, and piano performance graduate of Belmont University, Sarah often lends her talents to a veritable who’s who of leading country artists. She toured with iconic Country Music Hall of Famer George Jones’ band on his final tour of Canada, she performs regularly on the Grand Ole Opry with ACM Award-winner and Opry member, Mark Wills, Emily Ann Roberts, Grand Ole Opry members, the Isaacs, and will be touring on the 2024 Blake Shelton Tour. Sarah has written choral pieces performed by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and co-wrote High Road’s #1 Gospel  song, “Christ My Hope, My Glory” which High Road performed with Grammy® Award

and Dove Award winner, Jason Crabb. She has been the pianist for Gaither Homecoming series tapings featuring Bradley Walker and actor Dennis Quaid. Sarah was the musical director for the 2022 Dove Awards segment which paid tribute to women in Gospel music, arranging the old spiritual song, “Working on a Building.” THe performance featured 12 women across Christian, country, and bluegrass music.

Since High Road’s genesis, Sarah and her bandmates have garnered a Grammy®

nomination for their work on the album "Gonna Sing, Gonna Shout", Singing News Fan Award nominations for New Artist of the Year and Band of the Year, and two Dove Award nominations for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year. They regularly perform at leading country, bluegrass, and Gospel music events including 40 Days and 40 Nights at the Ark Encounter, Singing In The Sun, Women of Joy, the National Quartet Convention, Dollywood, and more.
