Barrett Baber's "Still Stands" featured in documentary Danger Close

Arkansas native and rising country music star, Barrett Baber, has written an inspiring song titled “Still Stands,” to be featured in an upcoming documentary film called Danger Close.  Barrett first arrived on the country scene by achieving Top 3 status on Season Nine of The Voice.

Danger Close follows award-winning female war reporter, Alex Quade, and her mission to tell soldiers’ stories during a series of unprecedented embeds with U.S. Special Operations Forces (SOF) at the height of the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.  Alex is bound and determined to complete the mission, even when on one airborne assault and ensuing rescue attempt, she nearly loses her life trying to tell the stories of these heroes.  During one highly-classified combat mission in Iraq, the reporter re-embeds with a Green Beret A-Team that has just lost their Combat Engineer, Special Forces Staff Sgt. Rob Pirelli, whom she knew from previous operations.  When an injured Alex ends up back in the States to rehab and prepare to redeploy, she quickly realizes how pivotal her redeployment will become.  Through a series of compelling events and a fated meeting with Rob Pirelli’s family, her return to Iraq turns into the mission of a lifetime!

The film, from the Heroes of Valor Collection, is an inspiring story about U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Robert Ryan Pirelli who was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom in August 2007.  Pirelli used his engineering skills to build an outpost in the dangerous Diyala province that protected American soldiers during the war. The outpost continued to serve its purpose long after Pirelli’s death and was later named Combat Outpost Pirelli in his honor.

The soulful country singer was so moved by Pirelli’s bravery and reputation that he felt it was important to tell his story the best way he knew how – in song.  “Still Stands” is Barrett’s skillfully crafted tribute, inspired by Pilrelli’s legacy and sacrifice for our country and can be found on his latest recording project A Room Full of FightersRolling Stone Country ran a story in last week's edition:
