Artists from Billy Blue Records, one of today’s premier bluegrass music labels, were honored with two wins at the 48th Annual SPBGMA Bluegrass Music Awards held at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in Nashville, TN, on Saturday, January 28th. Band leaders took center stage as Alan Bibey (Alan Bibey and Grasstowne) took home Mandolin Player of the Year, while Joe Mullins (Joe Mullins & the Radio Ramblers) took home Banjo Performer of the Year. Mullins showed his appreciation by commenting, “Everyone needs encouragement. To be honored with an award for playing banjo after being on stage for 40 years is so wonderful! I am surrounded by a great band of stellar musicians with The Radio Ramblers. I have to work at it to keep up! I’m grateful to have been included among the talented nominees, and so very thankful for the award. I am blessed!”
Veteran mandolin player, Alan Bibey echoed Joe’s sentiments, “Thanks to SPBGMA and all the voters, as well as Billy Blue Records and Main Street Management. I’m truly humbled by this honor.”
A&R and Creative Director of Billy Blue Records, Jerry Salley, commented, “All of us at Billy Blue Records congratulate both Alan Bibey and Joe Mullins on their respective awards at this year's SPBGMA! We are proud of their accomplishments and grateful to represent their incredible bluegrass music to the world”
