FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: THE GETTYS RECEIVE GMA DOVE AWARD NOMINATION FOR THE #1 BILLBOARD SELLING EVENSONG – HYMNS AND LULLABIES AT THE CLOSE OF DAY

Award-winning artists Keith & Kristyn Getty received their 10th GMA Dove Award Nomination, this latest one in the “Inspirational Album of the Year” category for Evensong – Hymns and Lullabies at the Close of Day, the Billboard #1 selling album released during the 2020 Sing! Conference. The awards will be handed out on Friday, October 22 on TBN. The 2021 Sing! Conference will be held in Nashville September 13-15th; one of the world’s leading faith-based conferences. Evensong – Hymns and Lullabies at the Close of Day features Keith & Kristyn Getty and guest artists such as Sandra McCracken, Skye Peterson, Vince Gill, Ellie Holcomb, Sierra Hull, Deborah Klemme, the Getty Girls and Heather Headley. The album debuted at their Sing! Global conference in 2020 – the largest conference for pastors and worship leaders in the world with an audience of over 40,000 people. Evensong is an ancient tradition pre-dating Christianity to Old Testament times, where families and others would sing through the day’s various challenges and sanctify the night.

Kristyn Getty said, “This is an honor for us, as always, to be recognized by our peers. The project became a very timely one as anxiety and loneliness were at much higher levels during the COVID 19 pandemic. It was a great privilege to get to share the project with other young mothers -- Ellie, Sandra, Heather, and my dear friend Deborah. And, then of course to have Vince join us was a dream come true.”

Keith adds, “Kristyn turned 40 in 2020 and I had asked her what her dream gift would be. She immediately said that she wanted to capture the songs she sings to our girls every night. That was enough for us to get into the studio and record this album. We are grateful at how it has resonated with so many and has been so enthusiastically received.”

During the pandemic the Gettys also started a Family Hymn Sing which has more than 12 million views online, was televised by ECB TV, and became a BBC documentary this past April. After the first Family Hymn Sing on St. Patrick’s Day 2020, Fox News ran a story, and viewership grew by millions immediately. To say the “Hymn Sing” was a viral sensation, might be an understatement, but the Gettys vision to bring families together in song worked. With the release of Evensong, it debuted at #1 on the Children’s Billboard sales chart which knocked the juggernaut Frozen 2 soundtrack off its 42-week #1 perch. “Consider the Stars” was also used as the closing track with the Against the Tide movie.

It was 20 years ago that their first hymn, “In Christ Alone,” was released and now has the distinction of being one of the most widely sung songs in churches around the world in this millennium. It is fitting that this year’s Sing! Conference is titled “In Christ Alone.” The mission of this year’s conference is to offer restoration, gospel-centrality, and unity within the church.
