Julie (Jules) Wortman, president and CEO of Wortman Works Media & Marketing in Nashville, was named an Award of Honor recipient by the East Tennessee State University National Alumni Association on Friday, May 3.
The 1989 graduate of ETSU is a veteran public relations and marketing strategist who has developed a number of national and international campaigns for record labels, brands, commercial developments, authors, music, sports entertainment, special events and more.
Wortman began her career with an entry-level job at Nashville’s Network Ink Public Relations. She went on to hold senior executive posts at such major record labels as Warner Bros., MCA/Universal and Atlantic and at a top professional wrestling organization before founding her own firm.
Her clients through the years have included many national brands and music legends, including Salt Life, Chevrolet (GM), Country Music Television, Sony Music, the GMA Dove Awards, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Blake Shelton, Kid Rock, The Charlie Daniels Band and more. She currently manages The SteelDrivers.
Wortman is a recognized expert in her field, often serving as a respected voice in the media as an authority on entertainment and media relations. She is also an adjunct instructor at Belmont University in Nashville.
Wortman received one of two Awards of Honor presented during the ETSU National Alumni Association’s 2019 Awards Banquet and Annual Meeting. Other honors given during this year’s event included awards for Outstanding Alumni and Honorary Alumni.
