UFO’s over major cities, natural disasters on our beaches, chemical spills in the Heartland, and all manner of chaos around the globe can’t stop Tom MacDonald (if that shit couldn’t, he sure as hell won’t be cancelled, by the way). Today, the chart-toppling independent artist, producer, visionary, and Hangover Gang Founder joins forces with multiplatinum country icon John Rich for the appropriately titled new single and music video “End Of The World.”
Listen HERE and watch HERE.
On the track, guitar pierces icy production as Tom delivers some of his most cutting and confessional rhymes. He warns, “This is Biblical,” and laments, “I talk to God, but it’s long distance and I lost reception.”Meanwhile, Rich carries the catchy chorus, “If it’s the end of the world, I will do better next time.” In the accompanying visual directed by Tom’s partner-in-crime and creative confidant Nova Rockafeller and Jared Potter, aliens fly over ahead as John chucks rocks at them for trying to steal a cow, and Tom flips them off.
Together, Tom and John deliver an apocalyptically infectious anthem, uniting genres around a common goal: to finally wake the fuck up…
“When John and I got together on this, it just seemed natural,” Tom says. “John is always causing trouble in the Country world and I'm always causing trouble in the Hip-Hop world. Together, we're disruptors, and it only made sense to cause some trouble together.”
John Rich added, "I've been a fan of Tom's for quite a while now. He spits more truth per syllable than any other rapper alive, and his lyrics mirror the feelings of millions of Americans from all walks of life. Tom and I look very different, but we feel the same. We love our country, and its people. It was an honor to perform with him, and I'm truly excited for the fans to experience this piece of work!"
Tom has proven he’s not going anywhere. In fact, he scored the biggest single of his career thus far with this year’s “Ghost.” Beyond tens of millions of streams and radio airplay (independently!), it surged to #1 on the Billboard Digital Song Sales Chart, eclipsing pop juggernauts churned out by the machine. Like the lone hero he is, he did it without a label, management, or the dozens of songwriters and producers behind today’s usual chart “[s]hits.”
By the numbers, he has officially surpassed 1.1 billion YouTube views with 3.67 million subscribers. His new albums Renegade and The Revolution are out now, but there’s a whole lot more on the horizon.
It may be the “End of the World,” but thankfully we’ve still got Tom MacDonald and John Rich.
